SAFE Connection

Need to get somewhere quickly and safely on campus at night? S.A.F.E. Connection
The S.A.F.E. (Student Alert Force Escort) Connection provides rides for students on campus for FREE!

If you need a ride, please call (850) 644.SAFE (7233).

  • Fall & Spring Semesters: Available 7 days a week, 8 PM - 2:30 AM, when classes are in session.
  • Summer Semester: 8 PM - 12 AM from May 9 to July 29.

Service is not available during university holidays or home football game days.

Lyft Concierge
To ensure students will be provided service promptly, Lyft Concierge is now available to supplement SAFE Connection. At peak hours, SAFE Connection operators may dispatch a Lyft vehicle to assist with student transportation requests.

About Lyft Concierge
Riders will receive a series of updates about their ride via SMS. The messages will state your organization's name (SAFE Connection) so the rider will know who requested the ride on their behalf.

Note: In isolated circumstances when a SAFE Connection operator is unavailable during service hours, callers to (850) 644-7233 may be instructed to download the Lyft app, add a Lyft Pass to their payment methods (code will be provided when calling), and then request a Lyft ride.

The Lyft Pass provided will allow for rides that begin and end on FSU’s main campus and/or Innovation Park between 8 PM - 2:30 AM for Fall & Spring Semesters, and between 8 PM to 12 AM for Summer Semester (May 9 to July 29); There is no charge to riders to utilize this code. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause and will seek to minimize the instances where service is provided in this fashion.

Tips for Riding Smart with Lyft:
     •    Verify your ride by making sure the license plate number, driver information, and car make and model match what you see in the Lyft app or provided via SMS.
     •    Share your location and route with a friend or loved one from within the Lyft app so they can follow your ride in real-time*.
     •    Follow the Lyft vehicle on GPS via the app*.
     •    Ask the driver to say who they are picking up.
     •    Learn more about how to ride smart with Lyft.
*Concierge riders will have access to these features only via the Lyft app.

If students would prefer to wait for a SAFE Connection van, they can inform dispatchers they would like to opt-out of using Lyft Concierge. For a Full Overview of the Rider Experience, please visit Lyft’s website.

For questions, please email safeconnection@fsu.edu. For general information, call (850) 644.1234.
