Parking Permits

Parking permits are required for all vehicles between the hours of 7:30 AM and 10:00 PM, Monday through Friday.

Permits need to be renewed every August 15 for currently enrolled students, faculty, and staff (except Payroll Deduction and Visitor Permits).

"VW" STUDENT 24/7 Virtual Permit

Students currently enrolled in classes and paying tuition will receive one permit at no additional charge.
Only students who pay the Transportation Access Fee within tuition are eligible for the “VW” Student 24/7 Virtual Permit. Some tuition rates, such as those set for distance learning, do not charge this fee. Please visit https://tuition.fsu.edu/tuition-and-fees for all tuition and fee information.
With virtual parking permits, there is no need for printed permits. Once the vehicle's license plate information is registered and associated with the permit, the vehicle may park on campus.
This permit allows 24/7 parking in Student (W) White Spaces, Employee (R) Red Spaces on weekdays after 4:30 PM/weekends (unless denoted by signage), as well as in Loading Zones for 20 Minutes.
This permit allows the registration of up to 5 vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc., but only one vehicle is allowed on campus at a time.

Please Note:

  • OPS employees who are not registered for classes are eligible to purchase a student virtual permit.
  • Students taking classes with a State Employee Tuition Waiver are not assessed the Transportation Access Fee. Therefore, these students must pay separately to acquire a VW permit to park on campus.
  • Students taking classes at FSU who are part of a joint program with TCC or FAMU must pay separately for a student parking virtual permit.
  • The cost of this virtual permit is prorated on the 1st of each month throughout the school year - not when new fees are implemented.
  • The permit fee is Non-Refundable.
  • You may add additional vehicles, including a motorcycle (VMC), to this permit but only one vehicle is allowed on campus at any given time.
  • If you are using a rental/loaner vehicle and you have a valid virtual parking permit, simply add the vehicle to your permit and contact us to remove it at the end of the rental/loan period.

"VRES" STUDENT Virtual Reserved Permit

The VRES (Virtual Reserved) parking permit is a premium add-on to the free student "VW" permit and is only available to current FSU Students.
These permits can be purchased for $415/annually, paid up-front (prorated).

  • The permit fee is Non-Refundable.
  • Permits are sold for the for the current permit year, prorated to August 15th for the annual permit option.
  • Permits for the next year are available starting August 15.

Permits are available on a first-come, first-served basis. In order to secure a reserved space in one of these lots, please log in to the FSU Parking Permit Portal at permits.parking.fsu.edu.
With virtual parking permits, there is no need for printed permits. Once the vehicle's license plate information is registered and associated with the permit, the vehicle may park on campus.
This permit allows the registration of up to 5 vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc., but only one vehicle is allowed on campus at a time.

  • St. Augustine Garage - Level 1

"VR" EMP 24/7 Faculty/Staff Virtual Permit

Full-Time Faculty and Staff (A&P, USPS, or OPS) are eligible to purchase this virtual permit.
With virtual parking permits, there is no need for printed permits. Once the vehicle's license plate information is registered and associated with the permit, the vehicle may park on campus.
This permit allows the registration of up to 5 vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc., but only one vehicle is allowed on campus at a time.
This virtual permit can be purchased each year for $250 (tax included). Accepted payment methods include credit or debit card.
This virtual permit allows 24/7 parking in all Faculty/Staff spaces, Student spaces after 4:30 PM and on weekends, and Loading Zones for 20 minutes.

Please Note:

  • OPS employees who are not registered for classes are eligible to purchase an employee virtual permit.
  • The cost of this virtual permit is prorated on the 1st of each month throughout the school year.
  • The permit fee is Non-Refundable, unless an employee leaves the University, and may receive a prorated refund.
  • One gate card is included with the virtual permit. Visit our office in person to pick up. There is a $10 fee for replacement cards.
  • Gate clickers are available for $35 each. Visit our office in person to pick up. To pay via payroll deduction fill out the Remote Gate Opener Agreement. This fee is Non-Refundable. There is a $20 fee for replacement clickers.
  • Gate cards and clickers must be returned when an individual’s employment at FSU ends. Failure to return will result in a $30 fine for clickers and $15 fine for gate cards.
  • You may add additional vehicles, including a motorcycle (VMC), to this permit but only one vehicle is allowed on campus at any given time.

"VRP" EMP 24/7 Faculty/Staff Virtual Permit (Payroll Deduction)

Full-Time Faculty and Staff (A&P or USPS) are eligible to enroll in a payroll deduction program that deducts $10.42 (12-month Faculty/Staff) or $14.71 (9-month Faculty/Staff) from each paycheck towards the purchase of this virtual permit and does not expire until the employee leaves FSU (is no longer employed by the University) or chooses not to renew at the start of the permit year (August 15th each year).
With virtual parking permits, there is no need for printed permits. Once the vehicle's license plate information is registered and associated with the permit, the virtual permit is valid to park on campus.
This permit allows 24/7 parking in all Faculty/Staff spaces, Student spaces after 4:30 PM and on weekends, and Loading Zones for 20 minutes.

"VRN" EMP NIGHT/WEEKEND Faculty/Staff Virtual Permit

Full-Time Faculty and Staff (A&P, USPS, or OPS) are eligible to purchase this virtual permit.
With virtual parking permits, there is no need for printed permits. Once the vehicle's license plate information is registered and associated with the permit, the virtual permit is valid to park on campus.
This virtual permit can be purchased each year for $125 (tax included). Accepted payment methods include credit or debit card.
The Night/Weekend Virtual Permit is valid 3 PM – 7 AM. This permit allows parking in all Faculty/Staff spaces, Student spaces after 4:30 PM and on weekends, and Loading Zones for 20 minutes.
This permit allows the registration of up to 5 vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc., but only one vehicle is allowed on campus at a time.

"VRPN" EMP NIGHT/WEEKEND Faculty/Staff Virtual Permit (Payroll Deduction)

Full-Time Faculty and Staff (A&P or USPS) are eligible to enroll in a payroll deduction program that deducts $5.21 (12-month Faculty/Staff) or $7.36 (9-month Faculty/Staff) from two paychecks/month towards the purchase of this virtual permit, and does not expire until the employee leaves FSU (is no longer employed by the University) or chooses not to renew at the start of the permit year (August 15th each year).

With virtual parking permits, there is no longer a need for temporary or printed permits. When the vehicle's license plate information is registered and associated with the permit, the virtual permit is valid to park on campus.

The VRES (Virtual Reserved) parking permit is an enhanced faculty/staff virtual permit and is only available to current FSU Faculty and Staff.
This permit allows 24/7 parking in a designated space on Level 1 of the Spirit Way Garage, parking in all Faculty/Staff spaces, Student spaces after 4:30 PM and on weekends, and Loading Zones for 20 minutes.
Permits are available on a first-come, first-served basis.
With virtual parking permits, there is no need for printed permits. Once the vehicle's license plate information is registered and associated with the permit, the vehicle may park on campus.
This permit allows the registration of up to 5 vehicles, including cars, trucks, motorcycles, etc., but only one vehicle is allowed on campus at a time.
These permits can be purchased for $580/year via payroll deduction only. The permit fee is Non-Refundable.

Full-Time Faculty and Staff (A&P or USPS) are eligible to enroll in a payroll deduction program that deducts $24.17 (12-month Faculty/Staff) or $34.12 (9-month Faculty/Staff) from two paychecks/month towards the purchase of this virtual permit, and does not expire until the employee leaves FSU (is no longer employed by the University) or chooses not to renew at the start of the permit year (August 15th each year). OPS employees are not eligible to enroll in this program.

Faculty and Staff who have retired from FSU and receive no wages from FSU are eligible for this virtual permit.

This virtual permit can be purchased each year for $15.
This permit allows parking in all Faculty/Staff spaces, Student spaces after 4:30 PM and on weekends, and Loading Zones for 20 minutes.

"VMC" Motorcycle 24/7 Permit

Students, faculty, and staff are eligible to purchase this permit to park any motorcycle or scooter on campus.
This permit allows parking in any non-gated Motorcycle space throughout campus as long as the vehicle has two wheels.
This virtual permit can be purchased each year for $58.85.
Additional vehicles cannot be added to this permit.

FSU Commercial Vendor Hang Tag Parking Permit

"C" Commercial Vendor Hang-Tag

FSU business partners providing services on FSU's campus are eligible to purchase this permit.
This permit can be purchased each year for $325.00 or per semester for $115.00.
This permit allows parking in non-gated Faculty/Staff and Student spaces, Service Vehicle Spaces, and Loading Zones for 20 minutes.
Each Commercial Vendor Hang-Tag is valid for one of the following semesters and must be renewed to continue parking privileges:

  • Fall: September 1st - December 31st
  • Spring: January 1st - May 4th
  • Summer: May 1st - August 15th

  • A business card is required in order to purchase this permit.
  • The cost of this permit is prorated on the 1st of each month throughout the school year.

"V" Visitor Virtual Permit

Individuals who visit campus on a regular basis are eligible to purchase this permit: permits.parking.fsu.edu
With virtual parking permits, there is no need for printed permits. Once the vehicle's license plate information is registered and associated with the permit, the vehicle may park on campus.

Each semester permit is valid for the following date ranges, and must be renewed to continue parking privileges:

  • Fall: September 1 - December 31
  • Spring: January 1 - May 4
  • Summer: May 1 - August 15

Please Note:

  • Only individuals who are not employees or students of FSU and who do not work on campus for other organizations are eligible to purchase this permit - i.e., an individual may not be receiving wages from the University or be registered for classes.

FSU Service Vehicle Hang Tag Parking Permit

"SV" Service Vehicle Hang-Tag

FSU Departments and campus vendors are eligible to purchase this hang-tag.

This hang-tag allows parking in any Service Vehicle space on campus, as well as Loading Zones for 20 minutes.

This hang-tag can be purchased each year for $65.00.

The Service Vehicle hang-tag is not valid on state vehicles.

FSU Loading Zone Hang Tag Parking Permit

"LZ" Loading Zone Hang-Tag

FSU Departments and campus vendors are eligible to purchase this hang-tag.
This hang-tag allows parking in any Loading Zone Space for 20 minutes.
This hang-tag can be purchased each year for $21.

  • Faculty, staff, and students are not eligible to purchase this hang-tag. This hang-tag cannot be used for personal reasons.

FSU Back-In Hang Tag Parking Permit

"B" Back-In Hang-Tag

Students, faculty, staff, and visitors are eligible to purchase this permit to back into spaces on campus. However, the following rules and restrictions apply:
The vehicle must have a valid campus parking permit, in addition to the Back-in Hang-tag. This would include a “VW” virtual permit, a “VR” or ”RP” faculty/staff virtual permit, an “E” virtual permit, or another valid hang-tag or parking permit.
If another hang-tag is in use, the Back-in Hang-tag can be placed on the vehicle’s dashboard. Both hang-tags must be visible.
This permit allows parking in the appropriate surface parking lot spaces only. The Back-in Hang-tag is not valid in any campus parking garage or any parking lots or spaces that are angled.
This permit can be purchased each year for $50.

  • The cost of this hang-tag is prorated on the 1st of each month throughout the school year.
  • The Back-in Hang-tag is not needed in disabled parking spaces. Vehicles with valid state-issued disabled license plates or placards can back-in any marked disabled space. Students, faculty, and staff must also have a valid campus parking permit to use campus disabled spaces.

FSU Back-In Hang Tag Parking Permit

"RD" Departmental Parking Hang-Tag

FSU Departments are eligible to purchase this hang-tag.
This permit allows parking in non-gated Faculty/Staff spaces and Loading Zone spaces for 20 minutes.
This permit can be purchased each year for $232.56.

  • Faculty, staff, and students are not eligible to purchase this hang-tag. This hang-tag cannot be used for personal reasons.

"ST" Short Term Placard

FSU Departments are eligible to purchase this Placard.
This placard allows parking in any 2-Hour Short Term Space (Click for map).
This placard can be purchased each year for $23 and must be submitted through an Order Form.

Florida Disabled Permit Hang Tag

Permanent Disabled Parking Permits

These permits are available from the State of Florida Department of Motor Vehicles.

Temporary Disabled Parking Hang-Tag

If you are in need of a temporary disabled parking hang-tag you will need a note from a doctor stating specifically that you are in need of a temporary disabled parking hang-tag and for how long.
TAPS is able to issue temporary permits for up to eight weeks for use on campus only.
