Parking Permits

Parking permits (including virtual permits) are required for all vehicles between the hours of 7:30AM and 4:30PM, Monday through Friday. Permits are valid August 15 through August 15 (except Payroll Deduction and Vistor Permits).

If you are in need of an annual student, staff, or emeritus permit, click here to order. For all other permits, placards, and hang tags, visit the TAPS office located at the FSUCard Center, 104 N Woodward Avenue (accessible through the FSU Bookstore).

Departmental permits are available at a discounted rate (see Prorated Permit Prices). Contact TAPS for details.

"VW" Student Virtual Permit

  • Students paying the Transportation Access Fee along with tuition will receive one permit at no additional charge.  
  • With virtual parking permits, there is no longer a need for temporary or printed permits. When the vehicle's license plate information is registered and associated with the permit, the virtual permit is valid to park on campus. 
  • This permit allows parking in Student spaces, Faculty/Staff spaces after 4:30PM and on weekends, and Loading Zones for 20 Minutes.

Please Note:

  • OPS employees who are not registered for classes are eligible to purchase a student virtual permit.
  • Students taking classes with a State Employee Tuition Waiver must pay the Transportation Access Fee to be eligible for a student virtual permit. This fee is not covered by the waiver.
  • Students taking classes at FSU who are part of a joint program with TCC or FAMU must pay separately for a student parking virtual permit.
  • Cost of this virtual permit is prorated on the 1st of each month throughout the school year. Not when new fees are implemented. 
  • Motorcycles and scooters are not eligible for virtual parking permits and cannot be added to existing virtual permits. Physical permits are required.

"VR" Faculty/Staff Virtual Permit

  • Full-Time Faculty and Staff who are not registered as students are eligible to purchase this virtual permit.
  • With virtual parking permits, there is no longer a need for temporary or printed permits. When the vehicle's license plate information is registered and associated with the permit, the virtual permit is valid to park on campus. 
  • This virtual permit can be purchased each year for $250 cash or check or online with a credit card.
  • This virtual permit allows parking in all Faculty/Staff spaces, Student spaces after 4:30PM and on weekends, and Loading Zones for 20 minutes.

Please Note:

  • OPS employees who are not registered for classes are eligible to purchase this virtual permit.
  • The cost of this virtual permit is prorated on the 1st of each month throughout the school year.
  • Gate cards and clickers are available with this virtual permit (Original card is included with virtual permit, $5 replacement fee for lost or stolen cards; clickers are $30 each).
  • Gate cards and clickers must be returned when an individual’s employment at FSU ends.

"RP" Faculty/Staff Virtual Permit (Payroll Deduction)

  • Full-Time faculty and staff who are not registered as students are eligible to enroll in a payroll deduction program that deducts $10.41 (12-month Faculty/Staff) or $14.72 (9-month Faculty/Staff) from each paycheck towards the purchase of this virtual permit and does not expire until the employee cancels the permit.
  • With virtual parking permits, there is no longer a need for temporary or printed permits. When the vehicle's license plate information is registered and associated with the permit, the virtual permit is valid to park on campus. 
  • This permit allows parking in all Faculty/Staff spaces, Student spaces after 4:30PM and on weekends, and Loading Zones for 20 minutes.

Please Note:

  • OPS employees are not eligible to enroll in this program.
  • Gate cards and clickers are available with this permit (Original card is included with permit, $5 replacement fee for lost or stolen cards; clickers are $30 each).
  • Gate cards and clickers must be returned when an individual’s employment at FSU ends.

"E" Emeritus Virtual Permit

  • Faculty and Staff who have retired from FSU and receive no wages from FSU are eligible for this virtual permit.
  • With virtual parking permits, there is no longer a need for temporary or printed permits. When the vehicle's license plate information is registered and associated with the permit, the virtual permit is valid to park on campus.
  • This virtual permit can be purchased each year for $10 cash or check or online with a credit card.
  • This permit allows parking in all Faculty/Staff spaces, Student spaces after 4:30PM and on weekends, and Loading Zones for 20 minutes.

"MC" Motorcycle Permit

  • Motorcycle Scooter Parking PermitStudents, faculty and staff are eligible to purchase this permit to park any motorcycle or scooter on campus.
  • This permit allows parking in any non-gated Motorcycle space throughout campus as long as the vehicle has two wheels.
  • This permit can be purchased each year for $58.85 cash or check or online with a credit card.
  • Motorcycles must have a valid "MC" permit displayed on the license plate to park on campus.

"C" Commercial Vendor Hang Tag

  • Commercial Vendor Parking PermitBusinesses who partner with FSU to provide services on FSU's campus are eligible to purchase this permit.
  • This permit can be purchased each year for $310.50 cash or check.
  • This permit allows parking in non-gated Faculty/Staff spaces, Student spaces, Service Vehicle Spaces and Loading Zones for 20 minutes.

Please Note:

  • A business card is required in order to purchase this permit.
  • The cost of this permit is prorated on the 1st of each month throughout the school year.

 

 

 

"V" Visitor Hang Tag

  • Visitor Parking PermitIndividuals who visit campus on a regular basis are eligible to purchase this hang tag.
  • This hang tag allows parking in any non-gated Faculty/Staff spaces, Student spaces and Loading Zones for 20 minutes.
  • This hang tag be purchased each semester for $51.75 or daily for $3.25 cash or check.

Please Note:

  • You may not be receiving wages or registered for classes in order to purchase this hang tag.
  • The cost of this hang tag is prorated on the 1st of each month throughout each semester.
  • Individuals with this hang tag must purchase a new one every fall, spring and summer semester.
  • Each Visitor hang tag is valid for one of the following semesters and must be renewed to continue parking privileges:
    • Fall: September 1st - December 31st
    • Spring: January 1st - April 30th
    • Summer: May 1st - August 15th
  • Daily visitor hang tags are also available for less frequent visits to campus.

"SV" Service Vehicle Hang Tag

  • Service Vehicle Parking PermitFSU Departments and campus vendors are eligible to purchase this hang tag.
  • This hang tag allows parking in any Service Vehicle space on campus, as well as Loading Zones for 20 minutes.
  • This hang tag can be purchased each year for $54.50 cash or check.

  • Faculty, staff, and students are not eligible to purchase this hang tag. Cannot be used for personal reasons.
  • The cost of this hang tag is prorated on the 1st of each month throughout the school year.

 

 

 

"LZ" Loading Zone Hang Tag

  • Loading Zone Parking PermitFSU Departments and campus vendors are eligible to purchase this hang tag.
  • This hang tag allows parking in any Loading Zone Space for 20 minutes.
  • This hang tag can be purchased each year for $13.25 cash or check.

Please Note:

  • Faculty, staff, and students are not eligible to purchase this hang tag. Cannot be used for personal reasons.
  • The cost of this hang tag is prorated on the 1st of each month throughout the school year.

 

 

 

"B" Back-In Hang Tag

Students, faculty, staff, and visitors are eligible to purchase this permit to back-in to spaces on campus. However, the following rules/restriction apply:

  • The vehicle must have a valid campus parking permit, in addition to the Back-in Hang-tag. This would include a “VW” virtual permit,a “VR” or ”RP” faculty/staff virtual permit, an “E” virtual permit, or another valid hang-tag or parking permit.
  • If another hang-tag is in use, the Back-in Hang-tag can be placed on the vehicle’s dashboard. Both hang-tags must be visible.
  • This permit allows parking in appropriate surface parking lot spaces only. The Back-in Hang-tag is not valid in any campus parking garage or any parking lots or spaces that are angled.
  • This permit can be purchased each year for $50.00.

Please Note:

  • The cost of this hang tag is prorated on the 1st of each month throughout the school year.
  • The Back-in Hang-tag is not needed in disabled parking spaces.Vehicles with valid state issued disabled license plates or placards can back-in any marked disabled space. Students, faculty, and staff must also have a valid campus parking permit to use campus disabled spaces.

 

"ST" Short Term Placard

  • FSU Departments are eligible to purchase this Placard.
  • This placard allows parking in any Short Term space.
  • This placard can be purchased each year for $15.00 and must be submitted through an IDR Request.

  • Faculty, staff, and students are not eligible to purchase this hang tag. Cannot be used for personal reasons.

Permanent Disabled Parking Permits

These permits are available from the State of Florida Department of Motor Vehicles.

Temporary Disabled Parking Hang Tag

If you are in need of a temporary disabled parking hang tag you will need a note from a doctor stating specifically that you are in need of a temporary disabled parking hang tag and for how long. TAPS is able to issue temporary permits for up to six weeks for use on campus only. Contact our office for additional information.
