What is Safe Ride?

FSU Safe Ride provides free rides between FSU’s Tallahassee campuses, with pickups and drop-offs at FSU locations.
Also, rides to or from off-campus locations within the service area are available for a $6 flat fare. See maps in app for details.
FSU Safe Ride utilizes GPS-tracked, FSU-branded electric or hybrid vehicles, including ADA-compliant options, all operated by professional drivers

Create an account using your FSU email address.
Request a ride — just like Lyft! The expected wait time is typically 15 minutes.

Service is available only when classes are in session and does not operate during University holidays or closures, such as Spring Break, Winter Break, and observed holidays.

How much does it cost?

Rides around FSU Tallahassee campuses are FREE, and rides with an off-campus starting or ending point within the service area are a flat rate of $6.

Who can use it?

FSU Safe Ride is available to all students, faculty, and staff with a valid FSU email address.

How do I catch a ride?

Simply download the Safe Ride app from the Apple App Store or the Google Play Store, create an account using your FSU email address, and request a ride through the app with an expected wait time of 15 minutes.

What areas can I get a ride to/from?

In addition to the main campus, FSU campus locations include Innovation Park, the College of Engineering, the College of Business, Seminole Legacy Golf Club, and the Intramural Fields. Rides with an off-campus pickup or drop-off location within the service area are shown within the in-app map.

What happened to the Lyft service?

FSU has opted to run its own service that is environmentally and economically more sustainable. Our fleet of electric vehicles run at a significantly lower cost than what Safe Connection provided, allowing us to provide rides for years to come.
